Kapamba Bush Camp, ZambiaSouth Luangwa National Park, Zambia
About This Property
Nestled along the banks of the spring-fed Kapamba River in a remote corner of the southern South Luangwa National Park, Kapamba Bushcamp offers an intimate safari experience in one of the park’s most wildlife-rich and secluded regions. Surrounded by pristine wilderness and overlooking a tranquil watercourse, the camp combines exceptional game viewing with a sense of peace and exclusivity that is difficult to match.
Life at Kapamba unfolds at a gentle pace. Between thrilling safari adventures, guests can relax on their private verandas, taking in uninterrupted views of the river and the constant procession of wildlife that frequents its banks. Whether it is a pride of lions on the hunt, a leopard stalking impala through the bush, or a family of elephants making their way to the water, extraordinary wildlife encounters can occur at any moment—sometimes even while enjoying a shower with a view of the river.
The camp accommodates just eight guests in four spacious, river-facing chalets, ensuring a highly personalised and exclusive experience. Constructed from traditional thatch and screened to blend seamlessly with the natural environment, the open-fronted chalets are designed to maximise views while maintaining comfort and privacy. Each chalet features an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, twin showers, and a luxurious double-sized sunken stone bath positioned to overlook the river. Mosquito nets, comfortable furnishings, and a private veranda complete these charming safari retreats. In the evenings, cleverly designed wrought-iron shutters can be drawn, allowing guests to enjoy the sights and sounds of the African night while ensuring complete peace of mind.
At the heart of the camp lies the welcoming central lounge, bar, and dining area, sheltered beneath a cluster of mature matumi and sausage trees. From here, a spacious viewing deck extends towards the river, offering spectacular panoramic views and serving as a memorable setting for meals under the African sky.
Operating primarily on solar power, Kapamba Bushcamp embraces a low-impact approach to luxury while maintaining modern comforts. Solar and paraffin lighting create a warm and atmospheric ambience after sunset, while limited battery-charging facilities allow guests to remain connected when needed.
Combining exceptional wildlife viewing, authentic bush charm, and attentive hospitality, Kapamba Bushcamp offers an unforgettable safari experience in one of Zambia’s most spectacular wilderness areas.
