Victoria Falls is one of the world's most spectacular natural wonders, straddling the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe on the mighty Zambezi River. Renowned for its breathtaking beauty and immense scale, the falls create an unforgettable spectacle of roaring water, rising mist, and dramatic scenery.
Known to the local Kololo people as Mosi-oa-Tunya—"The Smoke That Thunders"—the falls earned this name from the towering columns of spray and thunderous sound produced by the rushing water. Visible from many kilometres away, the mist rises high above the gorge, creating a dramatic landmark across the surrounding landscape.
Often described as the world's largest curtain of falling water, Victoria Falls stretches nearly two kilometres across and plunges more than 100 metres into the gorge below. During the peak rainy season, over 500 million cubic metres of water per minute cascade over the edge, generating one of the most powerful and awe-inspiring displays in nature.
A designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, Victoria Falls is not only a natural marvel but also a destination rich in adventure, wildlife, and cultural experiences.
