About This Property

Kilima Safari Camp is a large, comfortable tented safari camp inside Amboseli National Park, close to the Kimana Gate. It sits on approximately 420 acres and has excellent views towards Mount Kilimanjaro. The setting is particularly good for elephant viewing, and some of the accommodation and public areas overlook waterholes where wildlife can come to drink.

The camp has 72 tents and lodges, so it is considerably larger than Tawi Lodge or Angama Amboseli. The accommodation is therefore less intimate, but it offers a more traditional safari-camp experience with plenty of facilities.

The accommodation includes four-poster beds with mosquito nets, a seating area and private en-suite bathrooms. Some of the larger units have bathtubs, and rooms have views towards either Kilimanjaro or the surrounding savannah.

Facilities include a large swimming pool and poolside loungers, restaurant, bar/lounge, Wi-Fi in public areas, gift shop and massage treatments. There is also a viewing area where guests can relax and watch wildlife.

Dining is generally full board, with breakfast, lunch and dinner included. The camp can arrange outdoor dining experiences such as bush breakfasts, picnic lunches and sun downers, subject to the applicable charges.

Safari activities include game drives in Amboseli, guided walks, cultural visits and sun downers. Night drives and some other activities may involve additional charges.

Angama Amboseli — most luxurious, contemporary and exclusive; strongest choice for a special occasion.

Tawi Lodge — intimate, charming and more traditional; a very good balance of comfort, atmosphere and safari.

Kilima Safari Camp — more affordable and considerably larger, with good facilities and a superb Amboseli/Kilimanjaro setting, but less exclusive and less sophisticated than Angama or Tawi.

So if you're choosing purely on luxury and overall experience, I'd rank Angama first, Tawi second, Kilima third. If value for money is important, however, Kilima becomes much more interesting.
