Garden Route Safari Camp is a small, family-owned safari camp in Brandwacht Game Reserve near Mossel Bay, in the Western Cape. It sits in a scenic valley between the Langeberg and Outeniqua Mountains, surrounded by renosterveld, Fynbos, grassland and thicket. The camp is approximately a five-hour drive from Cape Town and offers a malaria-free safari experience.

The camp has a more intimate, personal and boutique feel than some of the larger private reserves in the Garden Route. It is owner-managed, with the emphasis on warm hospitality, personalised guiding and a relaxed home-away-from-home atmosphere.

Accommodation includes luxury tented units, family accommodation and larger private units. The luxury tents have super-king beds, en-suite bathrooms, romantic outdoor showers, private balconies and sitting areas overlooking the reserve. There are currently four luxury tents, making the tented experience particularly intimate.

Wildlife viewing takes place on the privately owned Brandwacht Game Reserve. Guests can expect to see giraffe, zebra, antelope, smaller mammals and a variety of bird life, with the reserve also home to lions. Early-morning and afternoon / sun downer game drives are offered in open safari vehicles, and private game drives can be arranged.

The camp offers a good range of activities beyond traditional game drives. These include guided bush walks focusing on tracks, signs, flora and fauna, horseback safaris for experienced riders, bird watching and guided runs. Sun downer drives are a particular highlight, with drinks enjoyed from a scenic viewpoint overlooking the landscape and, in places, towards the ocean.

Food is an important part of the experience, with homemade, locally sourced cuisine and a relaxed atmosphere around the boma fire. The camp positions itself as a place where guests can enjoy an authentic safari while still having comfortable, boutique-style accommodation and personal service.
